This show is a celebration of Sondheim’s music.  It comprises hidden gems with some remembered numbers from shows such as Follies and Company.

The narrative is charmingly vague.  Detailing the breakdown of a relationship between a man and a woman who co-habit the same New York apartment.  Are they lovers?  Maybe?  Will they become a real couple?  Who knows?  Their lives are intertwined.  They sing the same kind of songs, sometimes even together.

They capture Sondheim’s ability to suggest love, friendship, and emotion.  The songs are full of storytelling.  They are, after all, by Sondheim.  They explore love, sexual tension, and heartbreak.  A sophisticated look at an important songwriter’s craft.

Thirty minutes before each performance, join Director and Hamilton Spectator contributing writer on theatre, dance and theatre nostalgia, Gary Smith, for a pre-show chat about Stephen Sondheim and his music.
